About GLOBLVIEW
A free portfolio tracker built around one question: does this news actually affect anything I own?
What the site does
GLOBLVIEW is a web application for tracking an investment portfolio alongside the world events that bear on it. You enter the securities you hold, with quantities and purchase dates, and the site displays current and delayed market data, portfolio performance against benchmarks, an allocation breakdown by holding, asset class, sector and geography, company and macroeconomic news filtered to your positions, a global situation map, central bank and macroeconomic data by country, and optional price alerts and a customisable morning brief by email.
The feature that motivated the project is exposure mapping. Rather than showing a general news feed, the site scores events against the holdings you actually have, by company, by sector, and by geography, so that a story about an energy supply disruption surfaces your energy and airline weighting rather than a generic headline list.
Who makes it
GLOBLVIEW is an independent project, built and maintained by a single developer rather than a company with a research desk. It is not affiliated with any broker, exchange, fund manager, or data vendor. There is no relationship between what the site displays and any commercial interest in a particular security.
Where the data comes from
Quotes, company profiles, filings and news come from third-party market data providers. Price history comes from public market data endpoints. Central bank policy rate history comes from the Bank for International Settlements. Inflation, unemployment and output figures come from the World Bank. Exchange rates come from public foreign exchange data services.
Because the site is free and uses free data tiers, quotes are generally delayed rather than real time. Index and commodity levels are represented using liquid exchange-traded fund proxies rather than the underlying contracts. Geographic exposure is calculated from a company's country of registration, not from its revenue by region, since consistent revenue-by-geography data is only available under commercial licence. These limitations are stated plainly in the relevant parts of the site because they change how the figures should be read.
How it is funded
The site is free to use and is funded by advertising on the written guides in the Learn section. There are no ads inside the application itself. There is no paid tier, no subscription, and no charge for any feature. Nothing on the site is sponsored, and no third party pays for placement, mention, or favourable treatment of any security.
What it is not
GLOBLVIEW provides information and tools. It is not a broker and cannot execute trades. It does not hold client money or securities. It does not provide investment advice, recommendations, or personalised guidance, and nothing on the site should be read as a suggestion to buy or sell anything. The written guides are educational and deliberately avoid naming securities. Decisions about your own money are yours, and for advice specific to your circumstances you should speak to a qualified professional.
